How SEOMathLab calculates ROI

The ramp model, scenario ranges and margin math behind our ROI and breakeven figures.

Our ROI calculators answer one question: if the assumed ranking improvements happen, what is the financial return over 12 months? Here is the complete model.

Step 1 — Incremental clicks

Incremental monthly clicks = total search volume × (CTR at target position − CTR at current position), floored at zero. CTR values come from our published benchmark table.

Step 2 — Revenue and gross profit

Monthly revenue at full ramp = incremental clicks × conversion rate × average order value. Monthly gross profit = revenue × gross margin. Costs are your monthly SEO investment, applied in full from month one.

Step 3 — The ranking ramp

Rankings do not arrive on day one. Each month's profit is scaled by a ramp factor: 0% in month 1, building to 100% by month 12 on the typical curve (slower for competitive niches, faster for easy ones — adjustable in Pro mode).

Step 4 — ROI and breakeven

12-month ROI = (cumulative gross profit − cumulative SEO cost) ÷ cumulative SEO cost × 100. Breakeven month is the first month cumulative profit covers cumulative cost.

Scenarios

Every result shows three scenarios: Conservative (60% of expected value, slower ramp), Expected (central case) and Aggressive (140%, faster ramp). Present Conservative for risk planning and Expected as the central case. Never present Aggressive as the likely outcome.
