How the Bulk SEO Forecast works

The rank-ramp model, CTR curve and scenario math behind our flagship portfolio forecaster.

The Bulk SEO Forecast is our flagship tool: it turns a keyword portfolio into a full business case — clicks, traffic value, revenue, profit, ROI and breakeven. This page documents the complete model so you can audit every number.

Step 1 — The rank ramp

Each keyword moves linearly from its current rank to its target rank over the ramp period (default 6 months), then holds. Month 3 of a 6-month ramp from position 25 to 5 means position 15. Linear is a simplification — real rankings move in steps — but it is transparent and adjustable.

Step 2 — Position to clicks

Each month's rank converts to clicks via our published CTR curve: position 1 ≈ 27%, decaying to ≈ 0.02% at position 100, with linear interpolation between anchors. Monthly clicks = search volume × CTR(rank) × scenario multiplier.

Step 3 — Incremental, not total

We subtract the baseline: what the keyword would earn if its current rank never moved. Only the incremental clicks count toward the business case, because you cannot claim credit for traffic you already had.

Step 4 — Money

Revenue = incremental clicks × conversion rate × customer value. Gross profit = revenue × gross margin. Investment = monthly SEO cost × horizon. ROI = (profit − investment) / investment. Breakeven = first month cumulative profit covers cumulative cost.

Scenarios

Conservative scales the CTR curve by 0.7×, Base by 1.0×, Aggressive by 1.3×. Present Conservative for risk planning and Base as the central case.

Limitations

  • Algorithm updates, seasonality, competitor moves and SERP-feature shifts are not modeled.
  • CTR is a benchmark average — your brand and intent mix will differ.
  • Keyword overlap (cannibalization) is not modeled; dedupe overlapping keywords first.
  • CSV imports are processed entirely in your browser — we never see your keyword data.
